Directed by Bill Condon, who embraced the story's inherent horror elements, Breaking Dawn – Part 1 covers the first half of Stephenie Meyer’s final novel. The film follows Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) as they finally wed and depart for their honeymoon on Isle Esme. However, the bliss is short-lived when Bella becomes pregnant with a half-vampire, half-human child—a "hybrid" that grows at an unnatural rate, threatening her life from the inside out.

Scenes were shot in diverse locations, from the lush Paraty in Brazil for the honeymoon to Baton Rouge and Vancouver.
